About Our 2023 Gala Host
About Sarain
Sarain Fox is a dancer, choreographer, activist and television host. A storyteller at heart, she combines these various mediums to amplify the voices of her people in hopes of creating meaningful dialogue between her Indigenous community and settler communities. Sarain’s screen highlights include Rise (Viceland), Cut-Off (Viceland) and APTN’s Future History. She is most noted for her 2020 documentary film Inendi (on CBC Gem) for which she received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Host or Interviewer in a News or Information Program.
"The child welfare system is a sensitive and vital topic for Sarain Fox. She was raised by a mother who fought hard for change within the system and advocated to keep Indigenous children in Indigenous homes. That is why Sarain is proud to represent Indigenous perspectives and motherhood within the Children's Aid Foundation of Canada. She believes deeply in the health, safety and well-being of all children and is proud to support that work. The Teddy Bear Affair gala is a wonderful opportunity to come together for lasting change and meaningful relationships with one common goal; brighter futures for the next generation."
